OK, I'll try again to explain my problem. Before, I inadvertently left
out the MSGTAG component.

In Eudora, I have four personalities:
1. <Dominant> Cox Cable
2. Dominant2 Cox Cable
3. Onysko.com My own domain
4. Jason Worcester Charter.net

In Eudora Personalities, I have each of the above four Properties
filled out as they should with the exception of the SMTP server which,
I was instructed by MSGTAG to put in 127.0.0.1 for all of them.

In MSGTAG, the actual SMTP servers are listed, i.e. smtp.east.cox.net,
smtp.east.cox.net, mail.onysko.com and smtp.charter.net.

MSGTAG is an app which notifies me when an email is opened.

In Eudora>Tools>Options>Sending Mail, I use an smtp server as 127.0.0.1
and a Relay Personality as None. When I am home, I use Cox Cable and
all Personalities work fine (outgoing and incoming). All are POP
accounts.

When I am at my son's house, he uses Charter.net and, no matter what
I've tried, I cannot send mail out. The error message says it cannot
communicate with Cox Cable - even though I think I'm sending through
Charter.net. Even if I shut down MSGTAG and restore the real SMTP
server name in the Eudora Personality, it still is trying to
communicate with the Cox SMTP server. I don't understand this.

If anyone needs more information, please let me know. I will only be
at my son's house today (Thursday) and tomorrow for this week.

Thank you for bearing with me........

PS: I have contacted MSGTAG for support but have not yet received a
solution.

Also, look at this thread in the Eudora forum:

I appreciate all the time you've taken to get me going - even though
you don't agree with using MSGTAG (I have my reasons to use it).
However, see below: I followed your instructions and it still doesn't
work. This is very frustrating as I really want to use Eudora at my
son's house.

Done (although I don't understand what a relay personality is).

Done. Dominant2 is just another personality I use for special
recipients.

Didn't work. Error message says 'could not connect to smtp.charter.net
- connection refused - Error 10061

I checked all spelling. Also, I used <Dominant> and Jason Worcester in
the drop down list in the 'From' field.

I didn't know that - but my smtp server for Cox is smtp.east.cox.net
(of thst, I'm sure).

Username: jronysko
Server name: smtp.charter.net
SSL: don't see this in the properties.
Outgoing port is 25

Am at my son's house right now (Sunday afternoon) and don't have my PC with
me (Had a problem this morning and it wouldn't completely boot. After
partially booting, the screen went blank). So, I'm currently running a disk
check while I'm away ('til later tonight). Don't know if I have the
"logging" control pane in Eudora (using version 7.2). What is an esoteric
plug-in and what do you mean by copying it up one level? Will do all this
as soon as I understand and am able to get my machine to boot. Won't be
able to try this at my son's house until next Wed, Thur or Fri.
