Hi,

I tried to install F11 and F12 and the "yum" seems not to work very well..
I goggle it and I can see a lot of people having this kind of problem,
but I can't really see how to fix it

- Is there a general way to fix it ?

Thanks

I've run both releases.
"yum" works very well.

Please give us a hint.
What kind of problem are you having?

[root(a)localhost toto]# yum install vsftpd
loaded plugins: refresh-packagekit
could not retrieve mirror
httpd://mirrors.fedoraporject.org/mirrorlist?repo=fedora-10&arch=i386
error was
[errno 4] IOError: <urlopen error (-2, 'Name ir service not known')>
Error: Cannot retrieve repository metadata ( repomd.xml) for repository:
fedora.
Please verify its path and try again

This is exactly what I receive with a fresh installation of Fedora :-(

I also have CentOS -> No problem at all for any upgrade...

Thanks for your help

^^^^^^^^^

That looks like a Fedora 10 repository.
Are you trying to upgrade Fedora 10 to Fedora 11?

If so, follow the instructions here:

http://fedoraproject.org/wiki/YumUpgradeFaq

I just went from 10 to 11.
There was only one minor problem which I resolved
by removing a package.

I would _not_ try going from 10 to 12.
Upgrades can be tricky, if you want to try it, do one
release at a time.

^^
Is that really the output you saw?

The word "project" is misspelled.
