Running Fedora Core 12 on a 15.4 inch MacBook pro 2.16 GHz Intel Core
Duo.

Second Display is a Dell 19" monitor 1280 x 1024 flat screen monitor.

Somehow it won't display. Fedora display preferences detect the
monitor, but
is unable to display anything to it for some reason.

It's a matter of the graphics (card) driver and its configuration. Many
cards require proprietary drivers for using features like multi-monitor
display. Lool for according drivers on your card's manufacturer site.
