Right now PDFs open in a window within Safari 5.

When I click on a URL that is a PDF file, I want this file to download to my
hard drive. I then want to double-click the file icon and have it open in
Preview.

How to I change this behavior so that PDFs do not open in Safari 5, but
instead download to my hard drive?

Thanks.

there's a hidden setting that i think can be changed in tinkertool, but
the easiest way is to option-click the link.

Onyx does it for sure, but I found I still prefer Safari to view PDFs,
and I just use 'Download To...' when I want to keep it.

In general, if you want to do anything different to default,
remember to control (or right) click to see the options
available. In this case there is surely one that allows to save.

To add to what others have suggested -- If you know the link is a PDF,
using an Option-click on the link should make it download.
