From: Kerem Gmrkc on 28 Jun 2008 02:17 Hi, i have a old laptop i like to work with. The Disk Drive is not that fast, so i moved my pagefile.sys over to a usb stick and the complete system became significat faster. So my question is not abozt making the system faster by moving hiberfil.sys to some other place, because in fact it wont make anything faster, but the question is more about whether this is possible or not. The ntldr reads the file in a very early stage, but is there a way to move the file and point on it. I think even yet that this is not possible,... BTW the hiberfil.sys seems to be compressed, what is the compression algo, i am just curious,... From: Alexander Grigoriev on 28 Jun 2008 10:28 It will be even faster if you move your pagefile to a ramdrive. Just kidding. But moving a pagefile to USB drive is not the best idea. From: Kerem Gümrükcü on 28 Jun 2008 11:21 Hi Alexander, so what is the best idea,...? I only have 128 MB of RAM,...an HDD is terribly slow,... The USB Device things is much better than the HDD Swap File. I checked what will happen if you do a suprise removal of the USB Stick. The System always just hangs,...i did not get a BSOD, even after 4,5,6 times removing it,... Laptop prices are going dirt cheap. ( though I can understand you.
