From: Asha on 2 Feb 2010 02:20 Hi I am using MS Outlook 2010 beta with a IMAP/SMTP type account and I am finding that all the emails I download and read are staying on my webmail server account. That's the whole POINT of an IMAP account, that you can access all your mail folders from any computer. A bit like Exchange but without the Calendar and Tasks bit. If you don't want to keep messages on the server automatically, then you must change to a POP mail account. Otherwise move the messages to a local storage folder and set Outlook to purge on exit.

That's how IMAP works.
