Just updated to ver. 12.2.5 and noticed that it takes the program about
12-13 seconds to shut down and quit. No docs open, clean screen, iMac
21.5, 4 GB memory, OS X 10.6.3. Why so long?

Not sure how long previous version took but other word processors
currently installed (Pages, NeoOffice) quit instantaneously.

I find everything Word 2008 does is interminably slow. I have ditched it
for Pages for just that reason.

Yeah, I really don't use it either. Exceptions are sometimes a client
will send me an Office document that my other apps can't open keeping
the formatting intact so I use Mac MS Office. I also might use it to
prepare presentation slides I have to send in advance of a meeting--
PowerPoint being the defacto standard.

Actually, I'm a Mac switcher (about 9 months now) who used WordPerfect
for the last 20 years. I've got about 7,000 documents I created over the
years and of course, Pages won't open them. NeoOffice does a half-decent
job though and I'm slowly converting the ones I use to Pages.

I'm self-employed and have to admit that I've kept one of my old Windows
notebooks to handle situations I can't Mac...
