Well, in the meantime I found out that basic modifications to html files
can also be done with Mozilla Composer, which is included in the mozilla
package. Though this is not a real alternative to Kompozer, it provides a
suitable workaround for editing files with heavy <font> on and off usage.

And why does it make no sense?
MDV 2008.0 works pretty acceptable on a Tosh 1750 CDV with 160 MB RAM... I
think 2010.0 will do it also.

I think that Kompozer was called nvu before.
