You would need to ask Nikon that. Perhaps Sony has the better process, a
lower price, or because they are another Japanese firm? Perhaps there is
a two-way transfer? Where did Nikon's Active-D Lighting come from?

Cheers,
David

Perhaps the facts that:

(1) Sony is the world's largest manufacturer of imaging sensors, and
(2) Sony is one of the largest customers of Nikon Precision's scanners
and steppers

had something to do with it?

Plus, the fact Nikon has bought millions of P&S and DX DSLR sensors
from Sony over the last decade.

Why on earth would Nikon want to abandon such a long standing and
highly profitable relationship?

To please an ignorant fool like you, presumably. ;-)

You worship one brand, unquestioningly. Unfortunately, you choose to
worship a brand whose products are among the worst performing of all
the brands currently available in the field of DSLR photography.

You want respect? You could start acquiring some unbiased knowledge
and some objectivity, and then you might earn some respect. Until
then, you are just another ignorant shill for one weak brand.
