I seem to be in a loop with installing this on a SBS2003 from Windows update

I started out by getting 0x8007f0da errors, and tried both the resolutions
suggested regarding catroot folders in the knowledgebase. I then got an
0x80070002 error, so I binned the software distribution folder as suggested
in the knowledgebase, however I still get the 0x80070002 error. snippet of
update log appended - any suggestions?

Thanks for your time

Hi julian,

Thanks for posting here.

From the description, I understand the issue is that you get the 0x80070002
error when you download SP2 from windows update. If I am off base, please
don't hesitate to let me know.

Let us refer to the following steps to troubleshoot the issue:

I.Please refer to the following KB article to see if it helps

Error message when you try to update a Microsoft Windows-based computer:
"0x80070002"

http://support.microsoft.com/kb/922582/en-us

II.please try to resolve this issue by deleting or renaming the DataStore
folder located in C:\Windows\SoftwareDistribution.The DataStore folder will
be rebuilt, next visit to Windows update.

Before renaming or deleting the DataStore folder, you need to stop the
Automatic update service and if you recently visited Windows update you
also need to stop Background Inteligent Transfer Service(BITS).

1.Stop the Automatic Updates service. To do this, follow these steps:

a.Click Start, click Run, type services.msc, and then click OK.
b.Right-click the Automatic Updates service.
c.Click Stop.

The service will take a moment to stop.

2.Delete the contents of the DataStore folder. To do this, follow these
steps:

a.Click Start, click Run, type %windir%\SoftwareDistribution, and then
click OK.
b.Open the DataStore folder, and then delete the contents of the folder.
c.Close the window.

3.Start the Automatic Updates service. To do this, follow these steps:

a.Click Start, click Run, type services.msc, and then click OK.
b.Right-click the Automatic Updates service, and then click Start.

4.start Background Inteligent Transfer Service(BITS)

The service will take a moment to start.

I appreciate your time. I am happy to be of assistance and look forward to
your reply.

Have a nice day!

Best regards,
