I am getting the following errors in an portal site :

1) When we go to Home Page -> Site settings > Configure search and indexing

Produces the following error (below snapshot):

?Exception from HRESULT: 0x80040D1B.?

2)When we go to Home Page -> Site settings > Manage crawls of site directory

Produces the following error (snapshot below) :

?The gatherer index was not initialized. The content index must be
remounted. If the index is still not initialized, remove it.?

In the event log -> Applications, the following error message is displayed
"An exception occurred in the search synchronizer."

I think something has gone wrong with the search config.

How can we solve the above problem? Any solutions...

Thanks

Try enabling advanced search mode and resetting all of the indexes. Then do
a full crawl. See if that helps.

Hello,
Rajc, read this KB article:
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/827840/en-us

The possible cause is:
- You change the password of the administrator account that you used to
install SharePoint Portal Server.
- The Microsoft SharePointPS Search service has not been restarted on the
job server.

See you
