When downloading an email with an Excel attachment (I have had this happen
with both '97 - 2003 and 2007 formats) I get this error:

Task 'Work - Receiving' reported error (0x800CCC0F) : 'The connection to the
server was interrupted. If this problem continues, contact your server
administrator or Internet service provider (ISP).

The mail administrator at our ISP sees no issues on his side.

If I do not download with Outlook 2007 I can go into my webmail and the
email is there and I can get the attachment. It also appears in my
Blackberry mailbox. However, when Outlook trys to download it, it progresses
to about 75 or 80% done and then that error comes up. When I go back to
webmail the message has disappeared from the inbox on the server.

This does not happen on Outlook 2003. It downloads the message just fine
with the attachment intact.

Ideas?

UPDATE: I changed from POP3 to IMAP because the emails show up in my
Blackberry which is IMAP. However, xls attachments still through an error.
Some I can click through the error and retrieve the email and attachments
others I cannot. Again this is only happening with Excel attachments. I
received one today that I could not open or save the attachment (could not
even open the email)

What I have gained is that using IMAP it no longer deletes the message from
the server so I can go into my webmail client and view the message and save
off the attachment.

The error I get now is:

Failed to update headers

Detail:

The TCP/IP connection was unexpectedly terminated by the server.
Protocol: IMAP
Server: mail.xxxxco.net
Port: 143
