I am using trend for security. It keeps saying that there is
TROJ_GEN.PAE251E inside the file ppeehnvtssd. Trend for some reason can't
remove it.

Can you plaese provide more information.

You say Trend indicated "ppeehnvtssd" is infected with a Generic Trojan..

What is the fully qualified name and path to "ppeehnvtssd" ?

Does Trend's product (Trend is a company name, not a product name) have
the option of doing a boot-time scan? The file might be locked and
Trend may be inept at unlocking locked files or even at adding an entry
to the PendRename registry key to ensure the file remains unlocked on
the next reboot so it could then be deleted.

What happens when YOU try to rename or delete that file? If you get a
message that the file is inuse (i.e., locked) then try using the free
Unlocker utility to let you immediately unlock it and delete it or to
delete it on the next Windows boot (by using the PendingRename registry
key). You could also ensure the explorer.exe (Windows Explorer is also
used as the shell manager which is the desktop UI) doesn't have an open
handle on the file by using Task Manager. Load Task Manager, kill all
instances of explorer.exe (your desktop will disappear), use File -> New
Task to load cmd.exe (command shell), and navigate to the folder to use
the 'del' command to delete it. Then use File -> New Task to run a new
instance of explorer.exe (the desktop reappears but some tray icons
don't get updated so they are invisible until you logout and login).

Will Trend's whatever-product run okay when you boot Windows in its safe
mode? Some AV programs won't run in Windows' Safe Mode.

What did the good folks at Trend have to say?
