Just an update on all this. Thank you to both of you, we have got most
of it working. There seems to be a small issue in the mailer control
that we are using, and I am waiting to hear back from the supplier's
support line, before I can finish it off, but it is looking good.

If you haven't already paid for the control you
may be able to skip it without much trouble. Once
you work out how to recognize the markers in an
email, you don't need anything extra to separate
out the HTML for you.
