I got this error when I try to install Windows NT Workstation on VPC2004:

STOP 0x0000003e (0x00000000 0x00000000 0x00000000)
p5-0000 irql:1e SYSVER 0xf0000565

Hardware: Pentium4 HT 3.2Ghz.
I know it is related to multiprocessing. I have disabled HT in BIOS. Same
error.

If you could shed some light...
Thanks in advance,

Marconi

Both Windows NT 4 and 3.51 will correctly install under VPC 2004.
Make sure that you're not assigning more than 64MB when installing.

Eariler versions of NT will not install on modern hardware.

I've also had more success installing NT if the capacity of the Guest VM
hard disk <=2Gb.

Have you installed Virtual PC SP1 yet? Make sure and do that and set the
RAM to 64M for the install.

I have not had any problems installing NT4 on a similar CPU (even with
HT enabled although I generally don't have HT enabled). I set it to
128MB RAM, 4096MB VHD, sound disabled, standard resolutions only.
