Every 2 minutes I keep getting the yellow shield pop-up "updates
available" (I have it set to notify me, not automatically) I keeps
saying I need Excel 2002 and Word 2002 security update. Funny thing
tho- I don't have 2002, I have Office XP. Plus I keep checking "Don't
remind me of these again", yet it keeps reminding me every 2 minutes.
I even went to Windows update (online) and checked then to not remind
me.

It started this morning, I had about 20-30 updates available, mostly
Office. half were for Office 2002. I kept clicking do not remind me
again on the 2002 updates eventually it whittled them down to these 2
stubborn holdouts. What can I do?

Word 2002 and Excel 2002 are Office XP programs (which in the registry is
called Office 10, confused yet?) That is why you are getting the update
messages. I would recommend going back to MS Update and restoring all the
updates and install them.

Office 2002 products *are* Office XP products. No difference other than the
naming scheme.

Install them. Have your Office 2002/XP media handy/in the CD drive when you
do so.

And provide the specific update KB######'s for the updates in question.

20-30 updates available? Those are not all 'new' - so you should likely
install all of them.

What recently changed on your system?

(Tail between legs) Oops :-) yes I was confused because some updates
said Office XP and some said 2002. Q: Whats different? A: I installed
an office update yesterday, today I was inundated... Office has been
installed for 3 months... Thanks all

Office XP *is* Office 2002.

Get the updates.
