sound on lap top with xp -there is sound but it is garbled--

Start>right-click on My Computer>right-click on Properties>device
manager>scroll down to Sound, Video & game controllers and tell us
what sound system you are using. ie: C-Media AC97 Audio Device etc. If
there are any yellow "?"'s check them out. Re-install where you can.
