After I purchased the Event ASP8s a few years ago I sprang for Mogami spkr
cables. They've basically been plugged in a limited # of times--hardly, if
any wear. After some goofiness with one of the speakers a while
back--(issue has subsided) I just figured they sounded slightly different
and have opted to even up the volume/EQ the with the trim pots. It's always
bugged me because I know (even with my tired ears) that the spkrs do not
sound matched like they should. After extensive troubleshooting I have
deduced that one of the spkr cables does not sound like the
other --ie--slightly less volume--not as full and a bit less bass. I
plugged in a garden variety Hosa and problem solved--matched full sound
(volume/tone).

The clearance bin at my local GC is full of cables that are made by Monster.

In that environment with that type of gear I sispect it would be impossible to tell.

In a studio environment it is very easy to notice that:::
There are cheap cables that sound bad and cheap cables that sound better than the worst.
I've test that one.

There are probably expensive cables that sound bad and expensive cables that sound good.
I haven't bothered to test that one.

There is also reasonably priced cable that can be bought by the foot that is extreemely
reliable, quiet ( well shielded ) and delivers a strong full range signal, and out performs
both levels of reasonably priced Beldin that I used to buy by the roll.

I've never met a cheap cable that sounds as good as Canare.

The last noticable quality replacement I made was replacing a run of Beldin
( 2 cables ... the stereo main outs of my console ) with Canare star quad.
This was after I began recording those outs to get a quick board/headphone mix of
my works in progress, about 3 yrs. ago.
The signal to noise ratio imporoved about 6dB and the tone got a lot richer and wider
with the Canare star quad ... more highs and lows.
None of that really matterd much before, because I've been rendering over toslink and mixing
in the box, but now that I'm getting more channels open for rendering, beginning to use
16 analog channels also, along with the 24 toslink, it does matter.

As far as I can tell, the analog outs of the cards
( balanced outs to balanced patch bay to balanced inputs )
are rendering with about 90dB of head room before noise, which is making them pretty
competative with the adat light pipes. Canare is the best cable I've ever found.
I know for sure there is worse sounding cable. That has become very obvious.
There might be better sounding cable but I don't know what it is.
