Hey Terry R: I just thought of something else. My daughter has a Synaptics
touch-pad driver on her laptop (although we do not have the exact same model,
but hers is an older version like mine) and it works just fine. Do I have to
have an ALPS driver? Maybe that is the problem? Maybe I should try the one
by Synaptics and see if that one works better? Also, I came across the
following page while doing some research......

Maybe that would solve the problem? I don't know much about Driver Whiz or
if it is legitimate. You know how sometimes when things sound too good to be
true, they usually are. This page makes it sound like this "Driver Whiz" is
the ultimate answer for any touch pad problems. Any thoughts on it? I'll
check in tomorrow in the late morn. or early afternoon, to see if you have
checked in. The kids will be in school, so I won't have to fight with them
over who gets access to MY laptop! darn kids! lol

3rd message for today: oh boy, i did it now. i was messing around for the
heck of it. i went into device manager and clicked on the ALPS driver. that
is where i found the box that came up for it's settings. nowhere in there
did i find anything about enabling the scroll feature. i did find a box to
click on for any updates. i clicked it and re-booted like it said when
updating was done. at this point i noticed the synaptics pointing device in
the start up tray by the clock! i went into the control panel and under
add/remove programs i found the synaptics pointing device had been added.
the ALPS touch-pad driver is still there as well. when i clicked on the
mouse icon under control panel....the alps driver had been replaced by the
synaptics one! i know i can delete it just like i did earlier. why would
the update feature under an ALPS driver, change it to a synaptics one? even
after the update, the scroll feature still does not work! what the heck is
going on here?
