A friend sent me this photo. We attended the same concert
but I did not know he was there, too. I'm sure he's glad he still
has the photo. I'm glad he shared it with me.
Best I can recall this at Brown University in March of '68.
Check out the PA column near the left margin.
I recall the sound as being just a huge roar with unintelligible
vocals.
Those were the days, eh?

I remember seeing the Doors back then they had a bunch of Acoustic cabs
stacked up. Kinda lloked like the beginnings of a real PA.

I remember a lot of 60's groups had a couple of horns up on stands...PA's
were awful then.

I saw The Doors in that same venue at Brown U. It's a hockey rink.

I do not recall the Acoustic brand being in use in '68. First time I saw
that nameplate was Mahavishnu Orchestra's first tour in '71. That was
also at Brown U, but a different building.

I'm pretty sure that column (Hendrix pic) is either Standell or Shure.

A quick google shows you can go here to see Acoustic's 1968 catalog, since
you seem to doubt me.

And here shows their guitar amps from 1968 on

http://acoustic.homeunix.net/twiki/bin/view/Acoustic/SolidStateInstrumentAmplifiersPart1

The Doors toured with an Acoustic PA. I saw it. I even called Acoustic
about it, since it looked like better PA technology than most bands had and
I was already doing PA then.

BTW you won't find the Doors PA in the catalog. it was built for the Doors
from Altec components. Acoustic made the amplification and pretty blue front
boxes.

BTW if you poke around there you will find a photo of Hendrix playing an
early Acoustic Black Widow guitar...a rare collectible.
