I'm using the Acer Ferrari 4000 notebook with Suse Linux 10.0. The
installation suceeded after setting acpi=off. Almost everything works
fine except Wireless Lan and the display. The graphics card is an ATI
mobility Radeon X700 (128MB) with TV-out and an additional VGA-output.
I've already installed the ATI linux driver installer and it works
quite well, even with 3d support, but the highest resolution is limited
to 1280x1024. The TFT display comes with a native resolution of
1680x1050 but I don't know how to set this. When installing the
ATI-driver you have to run fglrxconfig, where I set the dualhead mode
to 5 (LCD + CRT). I need this 1680x1050 resolution for (unskewed) photo
editing etc. I already tried to change some settings manually in the
xorg.conf but it didn't work. I have to say that I'm relatively new to
Linux so I'd be glad if someone took a look at my xorg.conf (I skipped
the upper part):

Whoa. Anyway, from what I gather from all the output is that you don't have
a modeline for 1600x1050. So, you have to make it yourself. Ehm, BTW, what
is the output of /var/log/Xorg.0.log? If you inspect that, it might be that
it is telling you what modes are available. In any case, it probably tells
you what the hrefresh and vrefresh ranges are and the clockspeed range.
That's a start for a ModeLine.
