I want a default phrase that appears in my Outlook message SUBJECT line... ie
Release Authorised: (then my text).

Are there any GURUs that can help me?

Also any way of inserting a default entry in the subject line ie YYYYMMDD
(eg 20100315-etc etc)

Plain Outlook won't do either. You'll need to write code yourself or buy a
third-party add-in. See if some sample code is available here:
