First, before going any further, why do you want to put this data in
Project. You state you have all that data in Excel ... most of which we
would be expecting Project to compute *for* you, e.g. start date, end
date, etc. I don't quite understand what you get out using Project.

There is really no value in putting all this info into Project if you
already know the schedule, cost, and status. If your purpose is to get
a Gantt Chart view of the project, you are better off using Excel or
Visio (or something similar) to do that.

That being said, a great way to figure out how to get info from Excel
into Project is to first create small plan in Project with the
information you want to import. Then export that info out to Excel.
Inspect the result and then put your date into that same exact format
and then import it.
