When I click on properties to check the version i have, it comes back
as : 6.0.2900.5512 vers and yet, the folder of IE says: IE8 so
which is it?

I can put a Mercedez Benz sticker on my Ford Focus. The folder name is
exactly that --a name. What's in it may be different. Use the Help -
About to get the exact version running.

Right, I never tried to put a Ford INSIDE a sticker :)

Anyway, something weird happened during the installation.

Did you uninstall IE8 and installed again an older version?
