Hopefully it works!!
(Besides which, if you had to go back 3 months with System Restore as you
seemed to imply, I don't think it would be worth it - assuming that was even
doable or practical (a week or two, probably ok, but not a month or more)

You're welcome & thanks for your feedback. Test for a day or so; should the
behavior persist:

When (approx. date) did you install Microsoft Security Essentials (MSE) and
was the computer fully-patched at Windows Update at the time?

What anti-virus application was installed before you installed MSE, was your
subscription still current, and did you uninstall it before you installed
MSE?

Has a(nother) Norton or McAfee application ever been installed on the
computer?

Did a Norton or McAfee free-trial come preinstalled on the computer when you
bought it? (Doesn't matter if you never used or Activated it.)

Long ago - months at least.

AVG or the "other one," and yes, I did uninstall it first. In fact, I ?
that AV because it kept warning me it was expiring.

NO.

I do not think so - it came from state blind services to me. If it was on
there, I had it uninstalled by the tech trainer at the time - 3 yrs ago.

Still going on -- as soon as I hit File/Send/Link and the OE window opens
I'm 'stuck' in a website with open email window, and nothing will budge.

thinking about this, again - I am on auto updates - so I have to assume so.

Take some of this back, PA Bear - it only "does it" when I have more than 1
OE window open; then they're all frozen, until I shut OE down.
