I believe you !! Just bewilders me right now why even in vmware it
won't work when it's stripped of all other programs in that OS. Maybe
it's a hardware - software conflict ??? Do you remember how you
installed it? Anything special you did to make it work... settings,
etc... ?

It sounds like your issues were more to do with throughput problems,
rather than Agent itself. Maybe your ISP was indulging in 'traffic
shaping' (marketing term for throttling your connection). Maybe your
newsgroup provider was not reliable at that time.

You'll see that I use Agent as well, although I run it on XP.

I didn't do any special at all.
Downloaded the current (at that time) version, installed it with all the
default settings and registered it.
been running just fine ever since.
Go figure.
