JSH: Math, logic, pragmatic reality and primes
> On Mar 13, 4:29 am, Penny Hassett Sometimes I'm trying for a literary effect that can be muddled even for me, as I'm often in experimental mode on the newsgroups. Meaning that you use this site--a site where many, like myself, come to learn -- as your personal drawing board, to dump your garba... 2 Aug 2010 18:04
about understanding conjugate roots in Q[x]
A program tells me that the polynomial p(x) = x^4 + x^3 + x^2 + x + 1 is irreducible in Q[x]. If a = exp(2pi i/5) is as usual a 5th root of unity, then I think the polynomial p(x) splits or factors in C[x] as: x^4 + x^3 + x^2 + x + 1 = (x- a)(x - a^2) ( x - a^3) (x - a^4). I'm trying to understand what alg... 2 Aug 2010 18:04

brain and mind as a radio receiver and the best definition of Life vs. Nonlife #256 Atom Totality & #28 Brain Locus
Now if my memory is correct, the very best that the biology community can come up with on a precision definition of Life vs. Nonlife is that it embodies four main aspects: (a) is a closed geometrical shaped object (b) takes in energy from outside of its body (c) reproduces itself (d) has motion... 2 Aug 2010 03:50

A castigation of Napoleon Bonehead Green, Doctor of Phrenology,
