From: xazar on 9 Mar 2007 02:33 I switched from Cubase to sonar 4 a long time ago because the MIDI recording timing was ROCK SOLID, unlike the flaky Cubase. I have had no problems whatsoever since. Now I made the plunge into Sonar 6 for the audioSnap feature, which I am happy with but my MIDI recording had deteriorated. I run on a dual processor XP machine with 2 gigs of RAM. I switch between Asio4all and Line6_Toneport_Asio Drivers. Both produce the same results. Latency reports at around 4 msec and that's fine. Hit a key and the delay is indeed 4 msec, press play and play along and it's all good. As soon as I hit record the latency jumps to around 150 msec. Any ideas. In Sonar audio options I have: Read and write caching unchecked Driver Mode Asio Dither powr-3 Use multiproc engine Play effect trails Asio reported latency says 241 and I have it checked (Seems odd) Hoping someone can help, Cakewalk hasn't. When you say you are having trouble recording MIDI do you really mean you are recording a MIDI input stream, or are you recording audio output from a keyboard? Are you recording MIDI input but rendering it to a synth and hearing the audio from the synth? A little more details please on what exactly you are doing, using, what tracks are enabled and using what synths, effects, etc., please provide specific details about your project and setup. There is really no reason for Sonar 6 to behave any different than Sonar 4 on the same machine and same hardware, as far as I am aware.
From: xazar on 9 Mar 2007 10:00 I use a midi controllor keyboard through a midisport uno usb cable into a record enabled midi track in sonar. I then have the output from that track fire a cakewalk soft synth such as TTS. While Sonar is in play mode the delay between keytap and sound is negligible. When I press record in Sonar the delay between keytap and sound immediately becomes noticeable. What is your sound card or onboard sound module, that you are playing the audio back through?
From: Steve Karl on 9 Mar 2007 11:11 Disable the FX trails until you get the latency issue resolved.
