Bob, gotta do some work now, but will check when I get the time. Sams has
some good desktop deals too from Dell for the Dimension 560, with 23"
monitor.
Thanks for the efforts, Pat

unless you are really short on cash i think that you should forget about
the t4400/t4500 machines that are regularly available for about $450 and
instead go for an i3 machine for about $100 more. the i3 are about 33%
faster and often even the low end i3 machine have hdmi ports that are
useful for connecting to large screen tvs and other display devices.
and unless you plan on doing video editing or gaming i would stay away
from discrete video cards in laptops as they add considerable heat and
are prone to failure.
$539 for a vostros 3500. light on memory with just 2gb installed but
that 2gb is all on one module so an empty memory socket is ready for
upgrading (add another 2gb for about $50 or max out to 2x4gb=8gb which
is twice what the inspiron 1545 max). solid performing integrated video
for less heat and greater reliability. wireless b/g/n included (n not
included in the 1545 you mention or the one recommended). faster
7200rpm drive for overall noticeably better performance vs the 5400 rpm
in the 1545 configurations mentioned. a solid machine.
