With any overshoot costing 1.50p per Mb some people could be getting
surprise bills.

Funny how a big O2 advertising campaign recently
"We're nobbling broadband niggles" http://o2nobblingniggles.co.uk/
seemed to somehow miss out changing the deal and then screwing their
customers with bills (the "crafty cost nark" maybe?).

Don't O2 directors have any self respect?

From the BBC article:

"The network's cheapest tariff will cost £25 per month for two years and
will allow a user to download 500MB per month. After that, it will cost
£5 for every additional 500 megabytes of data consumed."

and:

"The most expensive tariff - at £60 per month - allows users to download
1GB."

This is telling me that (a) "£1.50 / Meg" is grossly exaggerating the
cost of overshooting, and (b) a 500 Mb contract plus 7 * £5.00 / 500 Mb
gives you 4 Gb for the same cost as a 1Gb / Month contract.

Maybe the beeb article is wrong?

I also think its a lot to do with recouping losses from roaming charges
and other changes that have been forced on them by OFTEL

I went on a SIMplicity tarif last year. There was only 0.5Mb inclusive and
after that it was ridiculously expensive. After a while I got bored with
waiting until I was in wi-fi coverage, plus unlike a Blackberry my Nokia
could not be inhibited from going online with 3G from time to time so I got
a Web bolt on.

Maybe O2 changed the marginal rates. They also [now] cap the charge to 1
per day.

OTOH to be fair to O2 data rates on 3G are very good.
