I downloaded a 50 MB You-Tube video to my MacBook runnng OS 10.4.11 by
the procedure of finding it in Safari and starting to play it in Safari
using Flash; then opening the Safari Activity window; finding the line
with 50 MB size; and double-clicking on this line. The opening lines of
the resulting downloaded 50 MB file are listed below.

So now I've got this file captured on my HD, but how do I play it?
QuickTime Player doesn't seem to want to play it. On my HD there's an
Adobe Flash Player 10.dmg; a BIMvidflashplayer.sol (???); a
ClickToFlash file, a ClickToFlash.webplugin and a ClickToFlash.pkg; one
Flash Player cache folder and two FlashPlayer prefs folders; and a
Flash_player_osx.dmg file -- but no Flash app. Get Info gives no help.

So, do I need to go at it directly with Safari somehow? Do I need to
add a .suffix of some kind? WIll all of this be easier when I've gotten
upgraded to Snow Leopard?

Thanks for any education.

You need Perian to provide a component to QuickTime to read Adobe's FLV
Flash format.

Or get VLC: open-source multimedia framework, player and server which plays almost everything.

Note: Perian has the added benefit of playing everything with the
standard Quicktime Player interface rather than requiring you to open a
separate application like VLC.

Do have Perian -- EasyFind shows 17 files/components of various types on
my system.

Maybe I need to add a .flv suffix to the downloaded video file's name?
