I'll ask performers not to unplug anything until I give the word, as will you. George also notes a limiter might help, but good communication is the key. IF you're not set up with a tb mic do it for these gigs, even without a helper they'll make your life easier. THe talkback is your friend, especially at shows where things can change rapidly, but so is a helper. I can possibly forego the helper, but I won't do it without a talkback to the folks on stage. Been there, didn't like it. > Although unplugging a hot cable is annoying, it usually isn't > damaging to a sound system. IN most caes not, at least not with a pro operating the system who's actually paying attention. I"m quick to pull faders down when nothing's happening such as changing out a fproermer, etc. or muting most if not all channels for a bit. After all, if the mc isn't talking to the audience chances are we've got some canned program material playing. After all this stuff ain't rocket science <g>.
