nxge 10gig ethernet very slow
We installed a PCIe nxge card in our V445 server a while back and simply cannot get it to run a a decent speed. It's connected to a HP ProCurve 8212zl. This morning I noticed that straight after a reboot it was reading from on of our NAS devices (with 10GbE) at about 70M/s. We then started another read from a ... 18 Jul 2008 06:10

boot time executables and shared libs
Generally, it is considered bad practice to use shaered libs with boot time applications. Yet it seems Solaris forces one to use shared libs for some system functions. For example calling getpwuid/getpwnam from an application will require calls to dlopen, dlsym, etc. In fact the getpwuid man page has: USAGE ... 2 Aug 2008 09:27
Solaris 10 networking - Global zones
We have a most interesting problem. When we boot our global zones some of the non global zones don't come up on the network. We don't know why. For some reason one or two will, but the third won't and it's on the same network as the other two. This just started happening. We think it might be NIS+ related on... 7 Apr 2008 10:56

Hi All, We just bought a new Sun (V445) with a dual ported FC array (StorageTek 2540). I thought that with the we could load balance across the controllers, however it is coming up as below with one part active and one port in standby mode. Is that right? I thought that this was an active/active device... S... 8 Jan 2008 15:40

Hello I have problems after replacing internal Sun Fire 880 FC disk. Before replacing I used: luxadm remove_device /dev/rdsk/c1t0d0s2 command and than inserted new disk. Everything looks fine except that under cfgadm -al I see 7 disks instead of 6: ~# cfgadm -al Ap_Id Type ... 10 Dec 2007 00:54
confusing NIS/NFS/networking issue
I need help diagnosing a recent problem. I'm not really sure what the cause of this problem is, but the messages I'm seeing seem to pertain to NFS and NIS. Here's the setup (the names have been changed to protect the innocent). I have a Solaris 8 box running as an NIS server (sun1) and 2 other solaris 8 b... 10 Nov 2007 08:54
