OpenSolaris Custom Install
is there any way to do a custom install of this release? talking about the 05/08 just released.. I'm OK with the live CD concept, my problem is there seems to be no way to customize the install - drive partition/layout, network config.. Forcing someone to use someone else's idea of disk layout IMO is not coo... 7 May 2008 14:53
Solaris Zones - memory management?
This link states that it is not possible to constrain memory usage in zones. Is this still the case? http://www.softpanorama.org/Solaris/Virtualization/zones.shtml IC: Are the physical CPU and RAM shared among Zones? Is it possible to allocate different resources to different Zones? Jeff Victor: Solar... 7 May 2008 14:04
Bizarre reversed sort order?
This has me completely stumped so whoever figures this out gets a cookie. On only *two* of our dozens of Solaris 9 machines, we are seeing very odd behavior from /usr/bin/sort. Depending on the contents of the file, the sort order will be reversed even though the contents should not warrant such a reversing. H... 7 May 2008 13:14
UTF-8 character order bug?
So in keeping with the "future-thinking" way of doing things, I thought I'd switch my locale to UTF-8. Sadly, it breaks a number of things. OpenSolaris 2008.05 issues
A colleague returned from CommunityOne today and brought an OpenSolaris 2008.05 Live CD back with him. So naturally, I immediately took the opportunity to load it up. The machine is a Dell Optiplex 170L, which I had previously loaded a recent release of S10 on. The S10 load was unusable; the network device was ... 7 May 2008 09:08
Solaris 10 zone from flar
Hey all, Recently, I had the idea to build a development machine that could provide a separate development possibilities for each of our developers, so they wouldn't get in each others way by screwing up the libraries or so. The problem was that we use Solaris 9 and Solaris 10 systems, and that there is a differ... 7 May 2008 08:20
