There is a Roxio fix (link) posted on this forum and it works. I did this
update and it works on my Dell. You'll have to search for it. I can now
restart my computer without closing that error message 7 times. 14 clicks.

From: Hubert on

Thank you so much for the informative post, Bill, I have the notice from
Dell and also the one from Roxio. My feeling is that it is up to Dell to
configure the preinstalled items in such a way thet there is NO conflict. I
expect my brand new system to work without me, a customers, resolving an
error. Should not Dell have checked their final hard drive image before
sending them out to customers? As to whose fault it is, I could not care
less. I thought that by now Dell would have changed their configuration so
that this persistent error does not happen, that was the reason for my post.
Errors do happen, I worked in computer programming since the early 50's until
I retired, and I have seen (and made) a fair share. Well, maybe someone with
a new system will tell us that this error is no longer appearing. Thanks
again for the detailed post, Bill.

How did you receive the notices from Dell and Roxio?

I have a Dell with Sonic DLA installed and did not receive any notices.

Apparently, Sonic, like Apple, didn't get the memo that Microsoft was
developing a new OS.

The whole signed driver thing for the audio and CD thing is, as I understand
it, all part of the DRM features in Vista. DRM sucks. But Sonic knew it
was coming. The problem with Sonic incompatibility is Sonic's fault, not
Microsoft's.
