Hi all,

finally i was able to setup all the multimedia stuff on my pretty new
SuSE 10.2 installation. However i am still not able to use the xv video
output in MPlayer. All other outputs work but are not really satisfying.
Google did not help very much. The project specific documentation is
pretty good but referring to it, the xv should do it. I know SuSE is
sometimes very special about multimedia things, so i have chosen this NG.

I hope, this issue is known to someone. I think xv is the best output
selection. Using the X11 output does not allow the MPlayer panel in
front of the video.

hardware/software details:

~# uname -a
Linux localhost 2.6.18.2-34-default #1 SMP Mon Nov 27 11:46:27 UTC 2006
x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux

~# atigetsysteminfo.sh
(II) ATI Radeon/FireGL: The following chipsets are supported:
(--) Chipset RADEON 9800 PRO (R350 4E48) found
(--) fglrx(0): Chipset: "RADEON 9800 PRO (R350 4E48)" (Chipset = 0x4e48)

~# lsmod | grep fgl
fglrx 624848 9

~# mplayer -vo help | grep xv
xv X11/Xv
xvidix X11 (VIDIX)

~# rpm -qa | grep MPlayer
MPlayer-1.0rc1-1.pm.1

Hope for help. Thanks,
Eric

Hi
No worries here with X11 (XImage/Shm) running Nvidia, xgl/compiz run
gmplayer instead of mplayer. Are you running the i586 versions?

X11 (XImage/Shm) does not support Full Screen Mode. That means the
window size expands to full screen, but video size stays 1:1 in the center.

MPlayer package is x86_64. I used to use gmplayer with 10.1 but can't
find the rpm at the installation sources of openSuSE and pacman.
However, the screens and options do not seem to differ.

Hi
gmplayer is part of the mplayer install. I run the i586 version on my
64bit machines. Using mplayer I can start it in xv mode and fullscreen
via command line with no gui and using keyboard commands....
