Updating Drivers for New System

From: Monica on 4 May 2005 08:10 I was on the ATI website looking for updated drivers for my 128 PCI Express x16 Radeon. Can't find it. Maybe it's under a different name than the Dell branded version? I found a driver on the Dell site that was issued 10/19/04. Will my system come with this driver? If anyone knows of any other drivers I'll need to update for the configuration listed below, I would appreciate knowing which ones. I'd like to get all these downloaded (I'm STILL on dialup) and have them ready when the computer gets here. Thanks guys! From: PaulT on 4 May 2005 08:17 I have pretty close to the same system as you Monica and I also have the ATI Radeon X300 SE Video card, Earlier this week while checking for security updates for XP at Windows Update I found there were new drivers available for this video card through Windows Update, I downloaded them and installed and to tell you the truth I haven't noticed much of a difference but figured it might take care of some bugs that I may may not have run into yet... I figured if I didn't like them I could always roll back to the original drivers but so far not problems.. I have a "strong dislike" for Windows updates <lol> and unless it's a critical one, I usually "don't fix it if it ain't broken" :) Tom, on the ATI website, under Windows XP/Drivers and Software/Radeon/Previous Drivers and Software...this is where it gets a little tricky. There's listings for "Multimedia Center, various Catalyst versions and RADEON Previous Windows XP Drivers and Software versions prior to CATALYST 5.1 / Multimedia Center 9.03 . You don't want previous drivers, you want current drivers. If you go to drivers, then Windows XP Drivers, then Radeon, what you want is Catalyst 5.4 download. There are two versions: One with the control center, one without. I don't use the control center, but some like it.
