What process or procedure can I use to obtain the update release numbers that
are included in my Windows XP version? I have a new laptop and I checked the
Control Panel under Add/Remove programs.

On the Add/Remove programs Control Panel check the check Box up-right corner
on the Interface to show all Upates and programs Installed.

As not all updates are listed in the Control Panel - Add/Remove Programs,
like for Windows Defender, go My Computer - System (C:) (given it contains
the OS) - WINDOWS and look at $hf_mig$. View in order of numbers or date
installed.

Or go to the Microsoft Update site and select "Review your update history",
where you as well will have additional information like the status of the
update, source, brief description etc.
