update: tried with new file, 2007 mode; still doesn't work.
did you actually print, and get auto_print to run, i.e. this line
fires?

MsgBox "You are about to print"

because that just doesn't happen for me.

With the code open in the VBA editor, choose Debug, Compile
If you get any errors, you'll need to fix them. Otherwise, PPT's
liable to simply skip over some of the code at runtime, iirc.

And you mentioned that the other routines are working as expected, as I
recall, so it wouldn't be a security settings issue.
