I am not able to install office 2007.It alwyas pops up a message abort,cancel
and retry.Pls let me know if any one has installed office 2007.

Hi Uma,

If you believe some of the 'news' reports about there have been over 1 million installations of Office 2007. :)

What version of Windows are you using and when are you getting this error message?

Did you recently install Windows, Office or 3rd party software updates on the PC?

You may want to try these steps.

===========
1. Backup your PC/files for safety.

2. Use Start=>Programs=>Accessories=>Disk Cleanup
to clear your Temporary Internet files and temp files.

3. Restart the PC. You may want to set a restore point
from Start=>Programs=>Accessories=>System Tools

4. Locate your 2007 Office Professional Beta 2
download file and note the folder/path location.

5. Create a new folder on your PC and note that
folder/path location.

6. Use Start=>Run , and on a single line, type in
the following (using the path & file names from
Step 4 & Step 5, above)

"drive:\Step4PathOfDownload\downloadfilename.exe" /extract:"Step5path"

example: If saved your download in a '\downloads' folder and then created a new empty folder named Off2007ProB2CD1 to hold the
Office 2007 CD image that you're about to create, then the Start=>Run line would look like this sample (the use of quotes and spaces
is important)

"c:\downloads\OPPLUS-EN.EXE" /extract:"C:\Off2007ProB2CD1"


7. If the extraction is successful (you'll get a dialog box telling you it was after a few minutes). Shut down all running apps,
utilities, email, messengers, and antivirus.
Now double click Setup in your new Office 2007 CD image folder (the folder you created in Step 5).

Or, if the extraction in step 6 does not succeed then
the Office 2007 download may be damaged/corrupted. To help determine that usse Start=>Run and type
%temp% {enter key}
then locate in that folder the the Setup.exe(xxxxxxx).log
(file) just created (check the date and time if there are several) and see if that log file yields has any clues on where the
extraction failed.

Post back with the results either way please.

Mr. Bob Buckland,

OS is XP home OEM with SP2 and recent updates from MS. Had planned to buy
office 2003, put it off on hearing about office 2007. Tried in vain to
install office 2007 beta. Came across your message, while looking for a
solution.

On trying to install (doube clicking on the file OPPLUS-EN) used to get the
following message.

"setup cannot find office.en-us\OfficeLR.cab. Browse to a valid installation
source and then click ok."
(the explorer/browser highlighter would go and sit on owp4b.tmp directory)
Last few lines of the log file ( opened using your instructions)

When I tried the method you suggested to install using "run", it failed and

On trying again (double clicking) got the message "Installation of this
package failed "

Uninstalled a few games and winamp. Tried again but to no avail.
Is there any limit on number of times one can try to install the program.

My last resort will be to reload XP with sp2 again and install office 2007
beta before installing other programs I have. Is there any way I can avoid
this ?
