Hi,

I want to use sysprep the frirst time in my life.

According to
http://support.microsoft.com/?scid=kb%3Ben-us%3B302577&x=13&y=13

I should run
"md Sysprep"
and then insert my installation CD
and then "then open the Deploy.cab file in the \Support\Tools folder."

However the note says:
"Note To make sure that you are using the correct version of the
Deploy.cab file for your service pack, use the Deploy.cab file that is
distributed with that service pack."

No my question:

My CD is XP + SP2 only.

My XP did meanwhile update to SP3.

How shall I proceed?

I found instructions to download SP3 , but the file I found was no iso
image.

thanks in advance for any suggestions

My qestion would be what is your primary goal on doing sysprep?

1. Are you planing on making a master image for deployment or creation
of similar machines?

2. Are you planning on making a master image for backup purposes?

If your goal is just to clone a whole bunch of machines, simply get the
Sysprep and place it on the C drive inside a directory called Sysprep.

Next edit the SysPrep.inf file with things such as admin user password, etc.

Finally run Sysprep, select "Mini Setup", and "Seal"

Once the machine powered down, clone the drive or make the image.

If you are not familiar with the sysprep.inf parameters, I suggest you
read up on it at the Microsoft site.

If your goal is to make a backup, don't sysprep, just get a good backup
program such as Acronis TrueImage or Ghost.

You can download the deployment tools from Microsoft site and Sysprep is
included in it..
