Yes Peter

In a nutshell - so that you cannot misunderstand:-

I joined the Royal Navy as an Artificer Apprentice and studied Control
Engineering. I reached Acting Petty Officer and was then commissioned.
After Officer training at BRNC Dartmouth, I went to RAF Linton-on Ouse
and flew Jet Provosts. Was awarded my wings after a year. Then on to
advanced flying training on both twin seat and single seat Hawker
Hunters. Succeeded in all.

Sent for operational training on the MkII Buccaneer. A few trips, but
too much for me to handle. Failed. Flying badge removed. :(

Retrained as an ATCO. I was very good at that! Took advantage of
reduction in level of spending on our armed services and volunteered for
early retirement. Accepted. :)

From thereon I was a civilian.

You can't trust your best friends, your five senses, only the little
voice inside you that most civilians don't even hear -- Listen to that.
Trust yourself.
