Hi Wally! I have used many backup programs but Casper wasn't one of
them. I have used and paid for many like Norton Ghost, Acronis True
Image, Paragon, etc. And what strangely works the best is something
really simple like BartPE which comes with A43 file manager. And just
boot BartPE on CD, flash drive, or whatever and just copy files and
folders like you would under Windows.

The only time BartPE and A43 failed for me was if MS Works v9 was
installed. As MS Works fails to run on a restore. The only thing I can
think of was because it was copied from NTFS to FAT32 and restored back
on NTFS format. I dunno for sure though. I have done it enough times
though and MS Works v9 breaks. Not something I use much though.

And oddly enough Acronis is one of the most unreliable backup programs.
And it gives you a false sense of security. As the backup part goes
without a hitch. The problems pops up during restores.

Thanks! A lot of people say and warn people they have to make backup and
some actually do take the time and do so. Sadly though few ever
recommend ever testing those saved backups and see if they actually
restore okay. I like taking a spare hard drive for this task so no loss
if something doesn't go well.

And you might remember, I even recommend going further than this. It is
one thing to have software backups. But I also recommend hardware
backups too. ;-)

"Decent" is about it. There is no way to do anything except restore the
entire drive. No ability to restore files or folders.
