SDL for protocols
Hello All, I just wanted to know how many real designers use SDL language to model their communication protocol. Do industrial designers really use the SDL way of doing things i.e. "communicating extended FSMs" ? Or they directly code the protocol in C ? How helpful are these tools ? regards ashutosh ... 23 Mar 2010 12:26
USB ESD SUPPRESSOR
In Atmel USBKEY reference design, they use this to protect the signal lines. LittleFuse 24V: http://search.digikey.com/scripts/DkSearch/dksus.dll?Detail&name=F1320CT-ND But why 24V to protect the 3V to 5V USB lines? FX2LP I/O port issue... need help
Good evening all. My design has a chip connected to a FX2LP ( 100 pins). The firmware, written and compiled with SDCC, works except access to the E port... I've tried several stuffs, like putting my "toggling code" into existing code and came to the conclusion that something is missing in my initialization code. ... 20 Mar 2010 16:35
ARM *simulators*
Hi, [Trying not to hijack the "Best dev kits for ARM Cortex" thread] I'd appreciate comments re: vendor offerings for ARM *simulators* (i.e., forget the "device/vendor-specific I/O's) and their (presumably) code generating counterparts. I do most of my development and testing *without* target hardware so ap... 24 Mar 2010 09:58

Yeah, I know, this isn't a binary group - but this seemed like something most folks here would have an interest in. Enclosures
Hi, I need a small quantity (~20) of small {plastic, aluminum} enclosures. But, I'm looking for something other than a simple rectangular prism shape. So far, I haven't found anything "stock" that looks appropriate (I did find a COTS "console-like" case but the angle is too shallow). If push comes to shove... 12 Apr 2010 13:38
Evaluation of real time kernel performance
hi all, I'm wondering what are the main parameters when talking about kernel performance...and when I say kernel I mean basic stuff, like context switching, blocking time, time for finding task of the highest priority etc... I am familiar with following parameters: -interrupt latency(which is, as I understand, d... 19 Mar 2010 05:58
Network fabric
Hi, I need some small-ish, 2-4 port PoE powered, PSE capable switches as "endpoint expanders" (e.g., need to add a second node at the end of a drop). Can anyone suggest suitable silicon to use in fabricating these? Or, am I better off making a midspan injector and using it "around" a COTS 4 port switch? ... 18 Mar 2010 15:28
