I tried accessing using Konqueror as superuser - thats where the error came
from

From terminal:

guy(a)linux-emachines:~> su
Password:
linux-emachines:/home/guy # whoami
root
linux-emachines:/home/guy # cd /
linux-emachines:/ # ls -dAIF /media
/media
linux-emachines:/ # cd /media
linux-emachines:/media # ls -AIF
/bin/ls: .: No medium found
linux-emachines:/media #

Strange.
That would be output of
$ls -d
or
$ls -dAIF

Please try plain user console and:
$ll /media

The ll alias should be predefined as ls -l.
You can check typing:
$alias

I said : ls -dAlF /media
U said : ls -dAIF /media

That is not the same

Again no an I (capital i) but an l (lowercase L)

You are about to enter another dimension, a dimension not only of
sight and sound but of mind. A journey into a wondrous land of
imagination. Next stop, Usenet

I had similar issues with USB 2 flash drives/MP3 players. They would not
automount, then KDE could not open a Konqueror window. I was unable to
fix the problem and the only conclusion I came to was that SuSE 9.2
has real issues with certain usb devices...an upgrade to SuSE 9.3 has
fixed our usb problems completely.
