HIO,

You'll get it working, and it will all be fine. But it's going to take a *lot* of time.

I've been there, done that, and got the video and the T shirt - and I'm fairly organised and had
everything written down/saved etc.

It's worth it though - unless you've got a deadline and have to get everything up and running (but
then you wouldn't have changed everything right now...)

Good Luck ;-)

Rick, you are the man. Thank you.

To your points:

Firstly, what you said about tracing wires and what not is exactly what I
have to do. I will not tear out wires. I knew it would come to this and my
situation isn't as bad as I first wrote about. I think I see the fiber
optic light pipe at the end of the tunnel. LOL!!! I have lots of ADAT
light pipe cables. An RME motherboard with a daughter on this new DAW that
I am writing this post from and another computer with another RME card
feeding light pipe to me as well. A GigaDAW.

What you said about using Sonar instead was a great suggestion. I think it
might profile my card better than what Reaper is doing. I did not even
think of it and I have much more experience with Sonar than any other
program. Great suggestion! I have worked with Pro Tools as well but do not
even have that now. Never did at my home studio but have used it in other
studios over the years.

Yes, Win7 64bit is different and I have discovered the route getting there
there and back x100 and I have all kinds of listings along with the speaker
names as well.

Wow, I am elated. Nice find. I have not checked in today at my Yahoo 01v96
group to see if anyone has suggested this to me but I will chime in if it
works.
Can I give credit to you? <g> I bought your latest album and I assume that
is why you are helping me. KIDDING!!!!!! I did by your album though and you
knew that.

>The one certain one will be the drivers, and it's hard to go wrong

I had to flash my RME cards bios and I installed the latest W764bit driver.
It shows up and I can get sound out of it but I cannot figure out how to set
it up for recording. Reaper rejects it every time. Like you said, I should
try Sonar because Sonar does a great job of profiling, IMHO.

Would you play piano on a bunch of my new songs as well. Anything is
possible my friend and thank you for the offer because I misjudged you long
ago until
I opened my eyes to the way you were working with your DAW and suddenly
realized you are one of the most knowlegeable persons out there. You just
have a much tighter budget on gear than I do and you squeeze every last
ounce out of the tools you use. You are also are a trained computeratician.
(sic) <G> Better than a mortician, eh?

>Good luck with the rest of your upgrade.

You brought a ray of light that Gman spoke about yesterday to me this
morning. Thanks again x100. I owe ya.

I am writing a song just now off the cuff. It goes something like.

Where were you when I needed you.
Your post makes me think of "post its" glue
You could have saved me from this mess
Now I am in some deep abyss
This I will save for twenty years
What for I will be most likely............. dead

I will take your advice Steve and I have filed this now printed post around
my wrist with packing tape. Thanks!

Packing tape around my wrist

Thanks for the encouragement. I have a window of opportunity and I am sure
it will all come around to YES!!!!!!
I am working hard though and I am practicing patience. A first!

That's not easy for a lot of us ;-)
