This might be a bit of a stretch, but MS Project will crash on some HP laptops with biometric software enabled (the fingerprint thing). I've only seen it happen on laptops in Europe, specifically in France and Italy, which makes me think it's tied to a language pack issue. The issue will happen almost whenever a drop down field is clicked. I didn't scan the entire thread, but are you using HP laptops with biometric software? From: JulieS on 6 Nov 2009 11:25 I cannot reproduce here either using Project 2007 SP-2 installed to XP SP-3. There have been a number of hotfixes that were released since SP-2. In a quick scan I didn't see anything specific to this issue, but you may want to take a look yourself. To the best of my recollection, I do not have any of the hotfixes post SP-2 installed. Have you tried doing a system restore on the XP machines? The control at fault is probably delivered by the operating system, not Project.
