Are you suggesting, "in general", there is an issue with the NVidia
driver and 11.3 kernel (even w/o GKrellM)? I ask, because I have
no issues ... hand-built, MSI mobo, AMD64, 8500GT.

GKrellM runs fine (I only ran it to test it - I run Conky).

Why not run GKrellM through 'strace' to see what's up?

As I said, it is not gkrellm. The process that takes all the cpu (with or
without gkrellm) is Xorg.

And have you bumped the "logverbose" level for Xorg and
checked Xorg's log file in /var/log for clues?

According to the latest official figures, 43% of all
statistics are totally worthless.

There were a couple of bugs ahile back related to X consuming 100% after
an update to the gnome-screensaver.

@Dennis Golden what happens if you disable any screensavers, also what
Desktop are you running?

Nothing in the log file, but did not bump the "logverbose" level. I'm
back to 11.2 now, but if I get a chance I will try that.
