You might say I handicapped the XSi on those earlier flower shots by
purposefully under-exposing, so I thought I'd reshoot a few more and give it
a bit more latitude to show its true colours.

Actually, I'm still handicapping it a bit, shooting at only f/8, but I think
the pics should be fairly crisp in spite of the largish aperture.

I used a reflector to get a more frontal lighting effect for this shot, with
my son aiming it. I also dragged out the old umbrella to put the flowers in
shade, eliminating (hopefully) any excessively bright areas.

I used the 75 - 300mm lens, tripod mounted, with mirror locked up at ISO
100.

Hope this one looks good...

Take Care,
Dudley

Indeed, it looks good... Much better photo than many sighted photographers
(including me). Is that an orchid?

Thanks for the kind words.

I'm not sure what kind of a flower it is, not much of a gardener myself.

My wife changed positions at work, and some of her old co-workers gave her a
beautiful flower arrangement on her last day in that department.

It was so well done, I couldn't resist snapping a few shots of it.

Take Care,
Dudley

Properly focused credits go to the camera makers.

Flowers are badly sliding off the left side and top-left corner, as well as
facing out of the framing. The random crapshot composition credits go to
the blind photographer who can't even tell where the flowers are by
touching them. Way to go Picasso!

Score so far is still a big fat ZERO.

So, the Jeff Wall photo where the model isn't looking at the camera is badly
composed according to you?

When somebody gives you the final say as arbiter of good taste / proper
technique, maybe I'll pay attention...

For the time being though, I like where Picasso placed body parts, and my
compositions will be different from others ... If you don't like it, I'll
consider that a plus ...

But, there must be some reason you keep clicking on my links ...
