With deference to the other responders, I too am a
programmer/developer. I recently purchsed for my desktop an HP
Slimline S5310F with the following config:

Dual AMD Athlon X2 64 bit CPU's at 3.0 Ghz
4GB 1033 RAM
640GB HDD
DVD RW
Win 7 Home Enhanced
Kbd/Mouse

I've also installed VIrtualBox on it and have setup several Linux
flavors and a couple of Win XP SP3 machines.

Works like a champ and is QUICK.
